Hello, I'm Ms. Gaines. I will be your child's teacher this year, and advocate for as long as you need me. My classroom is inclusive, engaging, and productive. I believe all children should have the opportunity to reach their full potential. In my room you can expect to see creative teaching methods and activities, principals of UDL, accommodations, scaffolding, and students being held to high expectations. Not to mention a world of smiles.

Creative ActivitiesIn creating and putting on this play, students worked on reading, grammar, writing a narrative with a conflict and resolution, voice projection, body position, how to work with others, patience, and self regulation, and much more.

UDL / Accommodations/ Modifications
Principle I. Provide Multiple Means of Representation.Present information and content in different ways.
Principle II. Provide Multiple Means of Action and Expression. Differentiate the ways that students can express what they know. Principle III. Provide Multiple Means of Engagement.Stimulate interest and motivation for learning. . |
High ExpectationsWe must believe until they believe! Studies show, for students to achieve to anywhere near their potential, teachers and parents need to have high expectations. What adults believe about a young person’s capacity, often determines what will be achieved. At least once a week, I tell my students they will graduate from high school, and have the choice to go to college. Nothing makes me happier than when one of my former 6th graders come back and invite me to their high school graduation.
