Numbered Heads Together
This strategy provides individual accountability while it allows
students to be engaged as tutors and tutees. The students have the opportunity
to share answers with other students in a less intimidating small group
setting.
Step 1: Divide the class into small groups, and give each member of the group a number.
Step 2: The teacher asks questions aloud to the class (or can give students a handout)
Step 3:The students work together within their individual groups to come up with an answer
(or answers). The students have to make sure that each member of their group is prepared with the answer for every
question.
Step 4: When the discussion time is over, the teacher calls out a random number. The student assigned
that number answers the question aloud for their group.
